Did a drive-by intending to grab a lunch and make a donation. They use to allow short term parking in the very south of the casino parking lot but apparently that has ended. All kinds of No Parking signs. We thought for a second about parking and checking if it was allowed for day time visit but decided just to move on.
Decided to stay as we needed to dump and refresh water. The FHU sites are nice and well maintained. Quite a bit of heavy traffic on the road which might bother some. I tried to call to get rates but the phone tree sent me to ticket reservation and never picked up. The operator option rang and gave message that the mailbox hadn't been set up yet. Ended up doing online $50 for 40' site. Check in at hotel desk...
I knew they were under construction but thought we would give it a try. The area where they had the RV lot is now valet parking. We just did a drive through and left.
The gravel lot is quite a hike to the casino, never figured out if they had a shuttle but I doubt it. Security did make rounds but seemed like they were in a rush to get to the turn around point and head back, not really looking at anything. $10 charge to dry camp. Food at the revamped buffet, Big Eats, was slightly better than Denny's and since it was self order and pickup...
Not much to add. Another non-smoking casino. Parking lot is good. Food and service was great in The Cedars. My praise to the waitress. The CEO's order wasn't quite right and she came back in about 30 seconds and said the she was a little suspicious so she was checking back. Brought another meal for her that was much better. You apparently need players card. I called the security as per the sign in the...
Well things have changed since the 10 years ago we were here. There is now a gravel lot to the south of the casino that is not level but doable, I was able to level okay with levelers, some others had to block things up some. I've been in worse lots. Usual check in at Hotel desk and they give a pass but 24 hours only. They said it can be extended with permission of the higher ups. I guess...
Like the title says the Dry Lot is now closed to overnight camping. This started shortly after the opened their FHS about the first of the year. It appears that even the employees do not know what is going on. I have asked two security personal and and two customer help staff, by phone, and have got four different answers. For the time being it appears that daytime parking is allowed but the sign states "No Overnight Camping." ...
The gravel lot behind the Shell station is no longer available. Construction of some sort has just started. There is about six slots at the east end of casino, last drive entrance, but the are slopped fairly good. I found it best to drive around the first entrance then behind the hotel into the lot. This is becoming one of our haunts. All around a good place. My only complaint is that the dry lot spaces are not wide enough. When your neighbor crowds you so you can't open the door without hitting their rig tends to upset one. For dumping and fresh water I go to the county park, Stanton, down the street, but they recently bumped price to $10 from $5.
Follow Jim's parking instructions. I have no levelers so took some time to get it good enough. Phone number posted in shelter to call and they were right there. Great staff, food was good. Very nice casino. Extremely busy but it was Valentine's Day (Sunday) and Presidents Day the next. And Sacramento being the State capital...go figure. I would return but the parking is a downer.
It will be a cold day in the Devils backyard when I return. More later. The RV park was fine, check in simple and the staff great. For what ever reason the hookups are in a raised island so when you dump you need to hoist the hose several times to drain. More of a PIA than anything. Another minor complaint was the pad had quite a slope to it so since I don't have levelers...
In fairness I need to update my comments made May 2010. We were stayed here over New Years 2011/2012 and the buffet has greatly improved. It has undergone a remodel and the food is vastly improved.
