Win-River Casino

This is not a free overnight stop. But, as I said in 2019, it is a nice smaller RV park. The overnight fee is only $40 plus tax. It is well managed and clean. Food is available inside. We stopped here on our way south last month. Hookups are good, with the only caution that for some RVs the sewer hookup is just a little high, but can be overcome with a little lifting of your drain hose. That worked for us.

We stayed overnight 1-30-19. Shuttle driver guided us into space. Nicely paved area with good hookups, although sewer hookups (which we didn't use) appear a bit high. Spaces slope down a bit at front if not unhooking, but nothing we couldn't live with. Price is very reasonable compared with other casinos. Food in restaurant was very good and reasonable if you get players card and are a senior. It is a little ways in from I-5, but not too bad. Actually it was quieter that way than staying next to freeway. We definitely would stop here again.

Good place to stay. Ok So I'm not a gambler so why would I stay at a casino RV spot? I like to eat, yes you heard me . Win-River did not disappoint Wed night Pasta Bar Buffet $15 with free Players Club Card. Excellent - went heavy with large shrimp in pasta. RV parking $26 included well light, secure, patrolled, w/s/e and courtesy shuttle to Casino if you wanted it otherwise about a 75 yard walk. Even used the $10 promo they loaded onto the Players Card just had to ask how to use it on the machine(s). Yep walked away with a $2.93 in winnings after using up the free $10 loaded on the card from a Non-Smoking penny slot machines. I would stay here again in a heart-beat. Shuttle drivers were very friendly and stopped to chat with RV'ers while doing their rounds. Hey Redding was 80 degrees and pleasant compared to cold and rain of Oregon.

It will be a cold day in the Devils backyard when I return. More later. The RV park was fine, check in simple and the staff great. For what ever reason the hookups are in a raised island so when you dump you need to hoist the hose several times to drain. More of a PIA than anything. Another minor complaint was the pad had quite a slope to it so since I don't have levelers took awhile to get it right. Again no deal breaker. Desk told me checkout time was 1100. In the AM wife had to work for awhile so pulled out and parked in the furthest out of the way corner to eat before we left. Just got started eating and over the PA "second call for the owner of a..." I go to where they ask me to report to and no one is there. BP goes up a few points. Find someone to get the casino dog catcher. He and his body guard finally appear. He make a point that I am taking four of his highly valuable parking spaces. Mind you I backed into a corner. I told him if I was to pull into a spot it would have still taken four spaces or two if I left the tail end hang out. He couldn't understand the concept of putting an 100" wide object in a 84" hole plus pulling up so the rear isn't in the road. BP racing up. Proceed to tell him that the mirror tag is still hanging in the window, they could tell I was an overnight guest throwing more money in the toilet. His response is that I should have parked in the RV lot. He doesn't know they have a 1100 check out time. I guess his badge he got out of the Cracker Jacks forgot to state this. Bottom line was I would stay to eat, then leave. Tried to get him go comp me for my now cold meal, but that didn't work. BP now going to danger level. Food was fine, wife didn't do so hot gambling. Redding always has been the armpit of California, now I know why.

Things have changed. New Hotel attached to the casino which "has taken over everything" according to the employees. The RV park is back where we used to dry camp. Spaces level- well marked- pull through length for us at 33" towing a car… Shuttle followed us to our spot and gave us instructions- electrical box was locked. Had to go to Hotel Registration- register- Pay $24.00- receive key to unlock electrical- received coupon for $5.00 off at the gas station when you buy $25.00 gas + coupon for 2 for 1 at the golf course. No longer giving $10.00 in casino play unless you are new players. Shuttle driver did come back later to get us + came and got us when we wanted to head back to the RV. Nothing new inside the casino- just some new games- food okay…..Did get 5% off food with our players card..

Was disappointed that dry camping was eliminated, although it was replaced with an amazing parking area! Excellent amenities including grassy area with trees on perimeter, small dog run enclosure, dog poopy stations, grills/smokers and concrete picnic tables. Easy In and Out on perfectly level concrete. Only thing missing was wifi. I spoke to the Manager about this, as it is provided for WinRiver's hotel guests. Am sending some updated pics later to Webmaster. If you have checked out California's campground fees, you must be aware that they are ridiculously high; so $24 for this overnight spot (with the $10 Play Card), is a bargain. Most Redding campgrounds are $40+. Check the entrance out on Google beforehand; it is a little tricky. Watch the speed bumps. When you check in and pay at the Players Club window, you are given a $10 Promo Card and a decent quality RV Sunshade. The Promo Card must be used on a single machine or you will lose the credit! This happened to another couple and Management did not restore their credit even though they were unaware of this restriction and appealed. The only other detraction was lack of regular shuttle; the RV park is at the very furthest possible parking area from the side casino entrance and is a modest hike. They have golf carts running around but there is no schedule and no number posted to phone for a lift. I also mentioned this to the Manager. Casino itself is a bit dated and food is pretty average and uninteresting. I got their specialty burger which was a good bargain and delicious. This is a good, quiet resting place if you want to make an early AM crossing across the Shasta-Trinity Mountains to Arcata/Eureka and beyond.

Win-River Casino no longer permits free Overnight RV Parking. The new RV area described in the previous review is now open. There are 13 30/50A E/W/S sites, and the rate is $24/night. When this opened, the casino banned dry camping in the parking lot. Jim O'Briant

Hi Yawl, I stayed here Oct. 16th., 2011 and it was pretty quite to say the least. What I did notice was they are just about finished with putting in about 20 full service RV sites with 50-Amp for those that need it. I'm sure they will charge for these but no one seem to know when or how much they will be when ready. I submitted 2 photos here. CAUTION: Right after you come off of Hwy #273, STAY to the RIGHT on Canyon Rd. You'll see the casino sign just follow the road to the last parking area. DON'T go into the 'Head Start' school area there is no turn around in there. Food was excellent and good value, down side was the smoking area of the main casino drifted into the restaurant area so your clothes will smell like smoke after dinner. As mentioned they do have a slot area that is non smoking and the players card comes with a free $5 on it so go crazy.. Enjoy

Report from Jeri, October 2009 We parked at the Win-River Casino in Redding, CA for 2 nights. The location is perfect for someone traveling through. Our GPS directed us via exit 675 from I-5. However, the casino signs indicated exit 667 was the preferred exit which was an extra 11 miles south to head north another 6 miles. If you're coming from the north, exit at 675 and travel to Hwy 273. Take a left and right on Canyon Rd into the casino. Otherwise, follow the signs posted on the freeway to the casino. RV park is straight down the same road from the casino on the left. Shuttle carts transport people to and from the casino. Register your RV at the security desk. It's FREE for 3 nights. Others have said they don't monitor that but if you stay over 3 nights, I'd check back in. They'll give you a yellow tag to put on your RV. Also, don't forget to register for their Player's Card. They've changed the bonus for doing this. We received $10 on each card for that day and were given a coupon for another $10 for the next. Every afternoon they have a couple drawings for additional casino $$$. We thought slots were tight but still had fun playing them. And, loved the no smoking addition. Restaurant was very nice but no buffet when we went. There is a great outside eating area on the terraced patio if you're there on a nice day.

Multiple reports below from years 2006 - 2008 Report from James M., November 14, 2008 Update on Win-River Casino in Redding - lots of construction going on so the RV camp area is being shared with some construction supplies and equipment. They are building a hotel, new steakhouse and enlarging the casino so construction will be going on for another year. Still a nice place to stop - the Happy Hour is now only Mon - Thurs (no weekends) but the soup/salad station in the bar is still a good deal (one time thru for $4.99). -report from Jim M. April 5, 2008 Stayed overnight at the Win-River Casino in Anderson/Redding, California on 04/03/08 - Great pea gravel parking area with wonderful shade. Security was very friendly - run a little shuttle back and forth. Please check in at the Security Desk and register - they want to see the slip hanging in your window. Great Martini Bar although the main bar had $1.00 well drinks/domestic beers for Happy Hour. Was told the dinner special was Prime Rib - all trimmings for 9.99. Join their Players Club and get $5.00 cash and a tee shirt. They were having problems with their machines and all pay-outs had to be hand done - time consuming. Do have a separate non smoking slot room. -report from B. Santana, November 2007 Visited the Winriver Casino in Redding CA. There is plenty of RV parking on the Rancheria. Nice and shaded. You need to check in with Security. Food is rather good. We won enough to have a nice dinner at the restaurant. -report from reader M. Terrile, June 2006 This parking area is difficult to use when the casino is having a major event. We were there on a Saturday afternoon with a local boxing match scheduled for that evening. Several other rigs tried to come in in the early evening but all parking areas were full. When parking at this casino you are supposed to contact Security and get a permit slip. Some of the areas are difficult to enter with a 40-foot motorhome towing a vehicle. Casino is good though. - from reader K. Simpson, February 2006 Exit from I-5 at BonnyView Road and go south to the third light. Turn right. Don't follow the truck signs, they have a separate parking area from the RV's (thankfully - so the RV parking isn't too noisy). Overnight parking is free, and there are lots of RV's, a really popular place.
