Surprised you don't include the El Capitan Casino, 800-922-2311, "The Friendliest Stop Between Reno & Las Vegas," GPS: N38° 31.515', W118° 37.338', NE corner of US-95 and 6th St in the center of Hawthorne, NV.

They allow overnight RV parking for customers, in a separate area from trucker parking, a block E of the casino motel. They also have a free standard (flush water) dump station in the middle of the RV/Truck parking lot. Decent food.

We were just there 6-7-07 (at the Elks, across the street) and noted this RV parking and dump station are still good. Hawthorne, "America's Patriotic Home," has two excellent museums, the unique Hawthorne Ordnance Museum on US-95/E Street (main) on the N end of town, and the Mineral County Museum, one block W of US-95/E St on 10th St. The Veteran's Memorial Park on the N end, across from that museum, sports a huge American flag, the Hawthorne neon sign, and several unique bomb fin wind spinners. On Armed Forces Day in mid-May, they fly the largest American flag in NV, 79' x 40', see the bottom of www.nevadatroopsupport.com/id2.html . The McDonald's is to the E of the park. There are two RV parks in town, a nice new one near the Safeway, Whiskey Flats RV Park, www.whiskeyflats.net .

Stunning 11,239' Mt. Grant dominates the Wassuk Mountain Range to the W and Walker Lake to the N has several BLM boondocking sites along the shore of the lake below US-95. Neat town.
