Nice overnight in parking lot

We stayed overnight in June 2024 on our way through to Washington. The parking lot area for RVs is nice, an easy walk across the parking lot to the casino building. The sites weren't really long enough for us with our HDT and 45' fifth wheel, but we had errands to run and had to unhook anyway, so we parked at the edge of the car parking closest to us. We ate dinner and then breakfast the next morning at the cafe, food was good and prices reasonable. We got free money to play for signing up for their card, and won a little on the slots - about enough for one meal, LOL. They have a bowling alley and theater now, lots of upgrades since before Covid. We'd stay again, it's on a regular route for us. Wouldn't stay at the RV park, I can't pay that much for an overnight stop when we're set up for boondocking and can stay for free. We patronize the casino and their food, so it's nice that they still allow overnight parking since so many casinos are doing away with it.

Checked out the RV Park. The pool and hot tub were closed (COVID), yet the price was $57 for a back-in site for one night, mid-week. Prices on their website are starting points and can't be believed. However, the RV Park was almost 100% full. We decided to go to the free RV parking area for the night. We went to security to check-in, but were told no need to check-in and are allowed to stay for 24 hours in the RV Parking area. Real nice casino with lots of gaming, movies, and a bowling alley. Plenty of food options. We enjoyed a quiet and dark night stay then moved on. Will definitely stay here again in the future (just not the RV Park).

Having stayed in the RV park in the past I did not expect the rate they charged. This campground has been open for some time. It is starting to get a bit ragged around the edges. Front desk folks where pleasant to deal with. And they were quite honest about the rates they charge. Simply put the busier they are the higher the rate. How high? How about $49 with Good Sam discount for a back-in in the middle of the long term parking area. As far away from the offices as one can get. Yes the utilities worked ok. Even got some WiFi. Fortunately they do offer a shuttle to and from the casino. The casino is primarily a smoking allowed area with a small area for non-smoking gambling. They now run a buffet every night. It has improved over the years we have stopped here.

We stopped at Wildhorse Resort and Casino for three nights, with a reservation. The bad news first: all sites are pull-thru, however not all sites are equal. All twelve 50 amp sites are asphalt, level and have grass strips separating each site - nice. The remaining 100 plus sites are all pull-thru, some are asphalt, some gravel; some are more level than others; some have grass, some have weeds. All the sites are 30 amps only, and as stated below, are subject to low voltage brown-outs, or worse, power outages. The sewer location is at the extreme rear of the site – you will need at least 35 feet of hose to access it; the same with the water hose! Now the good news; all this is about to change. The resort is in the planning stages to begin a major upgrade/renovation of the entire facility. All the RV sites are to be upgraded to 50 amp, grass and asphalt for all sites, a new, larger pool. The casino will likewise undergo major expansion – an additional tower, a 16-lane bowling alley, an expanded Cineplex. The RV upgrade is slated to be completed sometime late next year. Parking lot use is OK! Many RVs and OTR people; just be certain your genny works, as summer temps can be HIGH - 101-106 the three days we stayed in the RV park.

April 22, 2016 Still allowing FREE overnight RV parking in "separate" lot. Level pull through ample sized spaces. There are over 30 RVs tonight. Many are parked with empty space on each side; few are next to one another but may be traveling together. Parking lot is well patrolled, clean and well lit; although I only spotted one trash can. Semis are parked nearby- but in separate lot. Did fairly well on Slots; no promos for New Players.

We have camped here several times. The price is a little high especially since we do spend money in the casino BUT the sites are awesome and the staff is very friendly. The Wildhorse Casino is a fun place and their food is excellent. This is a great getaway for us and a siop point when we travel to the Southwest.

I stayed here overnight 6/2014 while traveling back home to UT from WA. I checked in around 8PM. Checkin was friendly and efficient. There is a discount for Good Sam's and others. The camping area had all utilities and hook ups with pull thru spaces. Being brand spanking new, there were no aesthetics like trees, plants, or other RV niceties, it was pretty bare. After setting up, I called the shuttle service with the number provided, and within 5 minutes they were at my spot to take me to the casino. This is a great service to avoid walking a fair distance late at night. I had a bite to eat at the fast food area, then went to the slots. The slots were very accommodating and I won the cost of the RV site for the night, the cost of my dinner, and a few extra $$ to boot. To say the least, I enjoyed my stay. The RV office did not open until about 8:30AM, and I had to return the key for the pedestal to the front desk at the hotel. Even if you don't gamble, this is a good place for an overnight stop. It's inexpensive (approx. $27 vs $40 at a KOA.), has all the conveniences, and friendly.

We stayed here several times, last time was September, 2012. The RV Parking area is now paved and striped. For Oregon, an added benefit is you can pump your own fuel at the tribal fuel station located next to the parking area. If you need full hookups, their RV park is an option.

Report from James M., July 8, 2010 Still allows free dry camping overnight. Large gravel area in front of casino- separate from the trucks. Did not have any problems. Had dinner in the bar during Happy Hour $3.00 drinks 4PM-7PM. HUGE nachos. Also had a special- Alaska Amber Special $10.99. Large glass of Alaska Amber Beer, 1 lb. Fish & Chips (enough for the 2 of us but one of us is small eater) AND a new Alaska Amber beer glass to take home. Did not really notice any smoke either. Very busy for an early Thursday

January 9, 2009

Report from Clark K., January 9, 2009 We stayed there one night in May, 2009 and will not be back. Check in was slow, people ahead of us had been assigned an occupied site, clerk didn’t care or know what to do. Our site was pull-thru but narrow and cluttered with cigarette butts, pull-tops, etc. We asked to move to a back in and it was clean, grassy, and NO one next to us. Casino was smokey. We ate in the buffet and it was decent but not worth the high prices. CG bathroom was FILTHY and not as clean as a forest service outhouse! We didn’t enjoy it!!

June 2007

- from R. Green, June 2007 We have stayed at the Wild Horse Casino RV Park many times and have enjoyed it. There is a free shuttle to and from the Casino if you like. They have just done some remodeling and the new restaurant is now open. We have not been there since the remodeling but intend to get there soon. Also dry camping in the Casino back lot. There is also a motel that is quite nice if you prefer. Happy Camping!

April 2007

- from reader Karen B., April 2007 We dry camped here for about five days visiting the casino, sightseeing and having some repairs done in Pendleton. The parking area is big, level and graveled. Because it’s so close to I- 84 many people use it as an over night stop. It’s gets busy but there was always enough room. Many of the motor homes appeared to be new and the owners didn’t seem to understand basic dry parking courtesy - generators running into the wee hours. One couple even left their diesel motor home running from 5:30am - 7:30 am while the wife went into the casino! The casino is pretty big, good variety of machines and table games. They also have weekly Texas hold'em tournaments and three big yearly tournaments. The Tamastslikt Culture Institute museum is very well done and worth a visit - $6.00 per person. The information center in Pendleton has a dump and water fill station at the south end of the lot-donations.

July 2006

from reader Susan C., July 2006 Stayed here on 7-3 to 7-5, 2006. Rates for the campground are now $19.26 for 30amp or $21.40 for 50 amp. They give a discount Mon-Thu for Escapees, Good Sam, AAA, & AARP. I paid 52.00 for 3 nights under escapees, it would be the same for AARP. They give you 2 free cont. breakfast tickets each day of your stay. Stay is limited to 30 days. Laundry and restrooms open 24 hours as is casino and free shuttle. They still allow dry camping in their lot and at the adjacent truck stop. The buffet is pricy so did not partake. The Hot Rock Cafe, snack shop has good and reasonably priced food.

February, 2006

This review contributed by Nick & Terry Russell, February, 2006 Check out their web site www.gypsyjournal.net In August 2004 we pulled into the Wild Horse Casino, east of Pendleton, Oregon on the Umatilla Indian Reservation. The casino has a very nice full hookup RV park, with fees of $18 a night at that time. We saw several RVs parked on one side of the parking lot set aside for RVs, and the security guard said we were welcome to dry camp for free. We decided to spend the money a full hookup site cost on a nice seafood buffet in the casino's dining room instead. The food was decent, though we've had better. We dropped a few bucks in the slot machines, with no luck. Casino is just off Interstate 84 with easy access and room for any size RV
