Report from Amber, February, 2009

The Range Steakhouse was very good, we were surprised! There are lots of RVs in the parking lot this time of year (February). Harrah's has a shuttle from the parking lot to the Casino so you don't have to walk. There is also an RV Park just down the road (5 Miles), where you can dump, fill water, get propane, etc. Their dump fee is only $10. There's really nothing else around, there's the Casino and that's it! The $5.95 buffet was a good value. We will stop here again.

In my opinion, this is the best RV option in the Phoenix area. My suggestion is the Large gravel / dirt lot in the very back of the casino: 33.022965, -112.053348 This was the staging area for last year's construction so is very accessible for larger RV's and 5th wheel's. The back parking lot for oversized can get a little crowded and tight when larger trucks, busses and RV's all park in the same little lot. I would suggest (if they were to Ask) that they open up the gravel area on the south side for Trucks and put RV's in the west gravel lot -- but they never Ask !! :-) Currently there is no posted stay limit or parking restrictions and I hope we can all help Keep it that way by patronizing their Casino when we are there !! Lots of action inside with slots, video poker, BJ, Hold'um, 3-card, Paigow but NO Bingo. Movie theater and large 'event' center next door (walking distance) - Walmart, grocery and fuel all within a mile or two and only about 30 minutes to downtown. Several dining options inside including a Buffet. We'll return for lost of Fun and Games at our favorite Phoenix Stay and Play option !!

February 2008
Report from Rick and Lucky Lucy, February 2008

We have stayed -- dry camped -- at Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino in Maricopa, AZ, on several occasions. Like many other Indian casinos this one is out in the country several miles from any town. There is plenty of parking for RVs of all sizes and there are usually several in the lots. Tour buses and semi trucks also use the lots but there is room to get away from them, especially in a smaller camper. There is a large dairy operation a few miles south of the casino and if the wind is just right, which it often is, you can experience the unmistakable odor of thousands of cattle confined to a small area.

The casino buffet is nothing to write home about but it serves the purpose and the price is right. We had one meal at the steak restaurant (The Range, I think) and I would give it only a D+ for both food and service.

They had a few full pay VP machines at the $1 level but our last visit was over a year ago so those may be history by now. Harrah's is not real big on providing full pay machines.

All in all this is not a bad place to hang out for a couple days if you happen to be in the area.

Report from Jim, April 2008

We camped at Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino/Resort near Casa Grande Arizona on March 23, 2008- two paved parking lots and one dirt overflow. Talked to Security people and there is no problem staying overnight free - no registration necessary. We parked in the lot away from the trucks but did have the road traffic noise - no big deal. Here are the photos.
