Foxwoods Casino

We stopped by to check out the RV Parking during the COVID crisis. The large RV parking are was closed and blocked by concrete barriers. However, the smaller "J" parking area was open, only blocked by orange cones. It appears they were letting RV's park there. There was the security sign at the entrance, asking you to contact security for permission. The larger area is slightly sloped, but the smaller area isn't. Both areas are paved with shuttle stops. This looks like a good option to park overnight. We didn't go in the casino during this crisis.

The Good: Free, paved spots, friendly staff, 10 night renewable max stay, great shops and casino in walking distance. Only rules are do not dump at site and do not abandon RV. Security makes frequent rounds. The Bad: most spots are on a slope. We left too much money in the casino. Lol The Ugly: Nothing Great experience. We felt very welcome. If you are sensitive to noise, almost everyone runs their generator at night and there were tailgating parties going on so you may wat to consider staying at a park that has rules regarding quiet hours. We had a blast. We loved it. So free to boondock how we want to boondock, if that makes sense?

Shuttle to casino if needed but it is only a short walk to Rainmaker casino. Wide choice of about 17 food places, from snacks to find dining, including buffet. High stakes Bingo played here also.

Foxwoods casino is an organization that has degenerated in recent years as have many East coast casinos. Foxwoods used to allow RV parking where the MGM towers were built a few years ago. This area was pretty decent, reasonably level and accessible. After that, they moved the RV parking to the Rainmaker area. You could find an area at the lower end of this lot that would be reasonably level. Then they (last year) took the lower end of this lot to put in an overpriced gas station (no diesel, no discount). Now the only area left is steeply inclined and not considerably roomy. The roomy issue doesn't seem to be much problem as most RV'ers have gone off to Mohegan Sun nowadays. Inside, you will find substantial areas of the casino closed off, most notably the no-smoking area. Fewer patrons, so overcrowding is no problem. We found the pay tables pretty dismal on the VP machines. As always, the poker room is one of the best anywhere. Restaurants are pricey as are the gift shops. I paid $4.00 for a candy bar. Shouldn't be eating those things anyhow. Our feeling is some food quality issues have shown up, such as this is the worst Fudrucker's I have ever eaten at. California Pizza kitchen and Veranda are always top quality. So all in all, small motorhome or trailer, OK. Big rig, you won't get level. No hook ups. Sometimes there are some pretty dreadful rigs in their parking lot. It is free.

We camped at Foxwoods in August 2012. RV parking is in the Rainmaker parking area. Finding it and getting to it is not hard. The area is of moderate size at best, especially when compared to nearby Mohegan Sun. We were at Foxwoods on a weekday and there was ample space to park; weekends might be more of a challenge. Most people seemed to favor parking along the perimeter; we had better luck getting level by parking crossways in the middle of the lot. Perimeter puts you next to grass and shade, so there *is* an attraction. There are decent grassy areas for dogs. There is a shuttle stop convenient to the entire parking lot. There is a garbage can at the bus stop. We saw a couple of RVs in a second lot on the other side of the access road. I did not see signs for RV parking there, but it seemed to be okay. Can't say if it was better than the designated lot for any reason. There was some construction going on at either end of the lot. The end nearest the casino was either building or improving an access road to the main road. At the far end it looked like a gas station being built. Earlier reviews talked about a noise problem, but we didn't notice. There was no check-in. Posted signs said to call the security number to report in; when we did, they just asked how many nights we'd be staying. We told them we were just there overnight, and they said we were set. They did not ask about the RV, license number, nothing. The lot has lights and security cameras. A shuttle ran the short distance to the casino about every ten minutes during the day and early evening. We saw a security car pass around once or twice. Comparing again to Mohegan Sun, it was not as much of an obvious security presence. Then again, at Mohegan Sun the RV parking is more distant from the casino. At Foxwoods you are less far away. It was only a 5 minute walk to the casino, or a short hop on the shuttles, which seemed to run frequently. The casinos are huge! Lots of games and slots. Looked like there was something for everyone. If you're compulsive about seeing all there is to see, as we are, be prepared to do some walking. The MGM Hotel and Casino is farthest away from the RV side of the complex, and its a bit of a hike. All nicely maintained. Not as exotic a feel as Mohegan Sun; kind of like a themed shopping mall. If Mohegan Sun is Disneyworld, Foxwoods is Universal Studios. Some nice dining and drinking options. We ate at David Burke Prime, where they have a $5 burger special during the day on weekdays. Way better burger than the Fuddruckers upstairs, and less money to boot! With Mohegan Sun just down the road, which casino would I stay at? Depends. Mohegan Sun feels more like a destination to me; Foxwoods wins for convenience. Foxwoods felt better for gaming, Mohegan Sun gets some points with me for dining. They are both worthy stopovers.

Nice area for RV parking. Looks like they allow fairly long term parking judging from our conversations with some people who had just moved into the area and were parking there. Better for dogs than Mohegan Sun since it has more grass etc. You can walk to the casino or there is a shuttle that runs consistently. Lots of restaurants, wifi readily available in casino area.

Not as nice as Cherokee NC, they park you next to a creek and there is grass and tables and chairs, very very nice. Casino Camper Report March 28, 2007 A post on our Yahoo group today said the RV parking here has been relocated due to construction. The new location is not level, and is cramped without much room for maneuvering a big rig; crowded on weekends. from reader John H., March 2006 Just the parking lot; no amenities. No sign-in required and they don't mind if you stay a few days. Restaurants are good, particularly the buffet, but pricey. Full casino with all table games and more slots than you can count. The down side is that they have recently begun to build a new casino in the quiet back lot that used to be RV parking. Now the RV area is right next to the main entrance road and the shuttle bus parking. That means you are entertained by jake brakes all night and if you do manage to fall asleep they will be cranking up about 20 diesel shuttle busses at 4:am. They let them run for a couple of hours before using them. You might consider staying up all night and sleeping during the day.
