Overnight PARKING (not camping) likely OK
"...we are currently at the Orleans and have been here for the past two nights. We are not alone; there have been many rigs with us both nights, and at least one that was here when we passed by two days before that. My full report (with photos) is here:
http://ourodyssey.blogspot.com/2012/02/three-cheers-for-orleans.html

We've seen security drive by multiple times, but so far I have seen no one issued one of the stock notices that they have been putting on RVs for years. My reading of the "No overnight parking" status listed on the main Casino Camper web site is that it was an over-reaction by one individual to such a notice. As always, they want you to look parked, not camped. That means no slides extended or jacks down, and it should go without saying that chairs, BBQs and the like should remain stowed.

Please remember that all these hotels must retain some semblance of compliance with local health codes and ordinances, and thus must avoid even the appearance of condoning living in the parking lot. Bottom line: parking is legal, camping is not. Don't make the hotel or casino have to explain this to you -- help them out by appearing parked, not camped. And if you press them to give you "permission" ahead of time, understand that you may force their hand into saying "no" -- for all they know, you're a county official testing their response."

Report from Karen B. March 2007

A few things to add to the Pat's report. The lot is very big, well marked and right across from the arena. There were 50 - 60 trucks and RVs parked each of the nights we stayed there. None of the trucks had their engines running. Whether this is a casino policy or if it was just because the weather was perfect, I don't know but it was great for sleeping. All of the RVs with slide out extended or levelers down had notes in the morning but we were not tagged.

This casino is huge. You can get to the casino by going in the door marked ticket sales. Remember your path - we got lost every time! There are nine restaurants. We ate at both buffet and the Mexican restaurant. Both were good.

The Orleans no longer allows overnight parking. They are pretty nice about it and just left a paper on my window signed by one of their security officers. The paper is pretty clear, and when I called to ask about their policy they made it clear that no overnight parking is allowed unless you are a hotel guest.

I don't know how strictly they enforce this, but that seems to be their policy. They never did knock on the door, and didn't leave a paper until after 9AM following my overnight stay.

Some quotes from the letter:

"If you are not registered in the hotel or fail to answer a page in the casino regarding your vehicle, or fail to register the vehicle with Orleans Security Management it may be Towed and impounded immediately without further notice at your cost."

"All Oversize Vehicles must check in with The Orleans Security Department on arrival".

from reader Pat, January 2007

When we left the MSS RV park, we pulled over to the Orleans for a few days to sit out the New Year's weekend. They have an over-sized vehicle lot with a mix of RV's and semis. When we pulled in, we asked a Security guard about parking - he said they don't want people "camping" but that if you're going in and gambling and eating, they don't mind if you park there. Tonight will be our 5th night here, and no one has bothered us. We go in to the casino daily to eat and play - no problem. I think what the guard really meant was "no squatting." We're going to leave tomorrow, but it's been a nice place to hang out for awhile.

The buffet is above average; the Courtyard Cafe has 2 menus - standard American fare, and Chinese. The Chinese is some of the best I've ever had; the appetizer for two was outstanding. I suspect they use MSG, especially on the beef dishes, but overall, I'd highly recommend it. There are nine restaurants here. The last time we were here, in October, we tried to catch a quick meal at TGIF's. After waiting for 15 minutes without so much as anyone bringing us a menu or glass of water, we walked out.

The slot club pays $3.00 cash back for every 1000 points. They occasionally have double points days, as they did on New Year's Day. Our luck has been mixed, mostly playing Bonus Deuces VP - seems like either Craig wins and I lose, or vice versa. At least we don't both lose at the same time! (But then, we're still playing on the MSS jackpot, so what the hey)!

The parking lot in front of the Orleans Arena (just a few steps from our door) turned out to be a great viewing spot for the New Year's Eve fireworks - we were able to see them from the Stratosphere on down to the MGM Grand. (No way was I going to get into the middle of the crush on the Strip for "America's Party")!

There is a liquor store in the casino - across from TGIF's - and it has some of the best prices I've ever seen, so stock up while you're here!

Update on the Orleans - the day after I posted about our stay, we got a notice on our door which stated:

"This hotel is not authorized for overnight camping. Please DO NOT lower your camper levelers or extend your 'pop-outs,' as this is considered (camping). (If levelers are found down, your vehicle may be towed without notice, at owner's expense). Thank you. Orleans Security."

I looked around, and saw that they left notices on every RV in the lot. We don't have auto levelers, or slide-outs, and we got one, though we were unhitched. We re-hitched our truck and stayed 2 more nights with no further incident.

I suspect that they blanket the lot with notices, perhaps once a week or so, so that they can say they are "complying" with the Clark County Health Dept. rules and regs.
