-report from D. Clark, September 2008
We stayed two
nights, not sure the maximum stay allowed. There are signs that say
"RV PARKING". Casino is on Hwy 789 and RVs may enter through any
entrance. The RV parking area is to the right as you enter the parking
lot. It's 4-5 parking lanes from the casino and fairly level, some
spots are better than others. Well lighted, fairly quiet but you can
hear the traffic on Hwy 789, patrolled by security.
Did not try the
food, but they do have a restaurant and a Latte/Espresso/Pastries counter by
the free soda/coffee/ and juice stand. Several Card tables and Plenty
of Slots from $0.01 to $25.00. Nothing for kids to do.
They have a
smoking side and a non-smoking side for Slot Machines. They have a
Gift Shop as well

The Wind River Casino has moved to a new facility opened
April, 2008. It is now 1.5 miles south of the old location on Hwy 789.
The new address is 10269 HWY 789. The new casino has a huge parking
lot. They also have a full service restaurant with very reasonable
prices. We stopped here for a
meal but did not park here overnight. I asked security about overnight
parking and was told it was allowed. There is no filling station at
this location. GPS coordinates are:
42.976522, -108.397570
Same phone number as before.

Look
for the Exxon gas station. The casino is behind it and there isn’t a sign on
the road so it’s easy to miss it. This is the only casino in Wyoming and we
had seen advertisements for it when we were visiting Yellowstone so we were
expecting a larger newer casino. Most of the machines are very new
multi-denomination , twenty line slots.
We
had planned to spend the night but moved to Wal-Mart because it was quieter
there.

We
found a casino today that I didn't see listed on the Casino Camper website
or in the Casino Camping book. It's called the Wind River Casino, and it's
on the Wind River reservation, about 1 mile south of Riverton on WY 789.
Dry camping is OK in the gravel lot south of the casino and gas station area
- big rigs OK, looks like no problem for satellite dish reception. Lot is
moderate in size and could accommodate a number of rigs.
Small
c-store inside. Small counter-service restaurant area in casino. Hundreds of
machines - mostly slots, a few VP - looked like mostly 9/6 JOB. Bingo hall.
There is a campground with FHU's across the street - the Rendezvous CG. I
didn't stop to check rates - we were just passing through. According to a
sign we saw in town, the casino has Indian dancing every Thursday evening at
6:30 - admission free. The county has an info site at
www.fremontcountyinfo.com -
haven't checked it out yet. There is a Wal-Mart Super Center at the north
end of town - lot looked large and level, and we saw one RV there that
looked like it had over-nighted.
