Overnight RV Parking is OK

- report from reader  Carrie B., June 2006
There is a RV park that is right up the street from Ho-Chunk Casino called Fox's RV Park. We have a seasonal sight there and it is really nice and quiet. You can either drive the block it takes you to get to the casino or you can call for a free shuttle bus to pick you up right at your site. There is a swimming pool onsite and the RV park is right next to a golf course

.- report from reader V. Haycock, March 2006

Re your info on Ho-Chuck Casino in Baraboo, WI, you do not have to park with the trucks and busses. Go around to the rear casino entrances and park. There is lots of room (and lots of RVs) and security only waves as they drive by. We always try to park parallel to a curb and then extend our slide room. We have stayed there many times. I love Ho-Chunk although I have never won much there. The employees are all friendly and helpful. One time we stayed for five nights over a holiday weekend with no question.  -

- report from reader Eric, February 2006

No RV park is attached to the Casino but you can boondock just south of the Casino next to the attached gas station. You have to park among the semi-trucks though. There are many RV parks within 10 miles of the Casino...we stayed at Baraboo Hills Campground. Very nice and very big casino. Saw many RV's boondocking.

Majestic Pines Casino in Black River Falls, WI is part of the Ho-Chunk family. No RV park attached to casino. Very, very small casino but you can boondock if you park around the sides of the parking lot. Nice for a quick stopover.

Consensus seems to be that the casino isn't very good but the RV park is great!

Thought you might like a pic of the RV park (P. S., the casino stinks. It is old and it looks and smells old. It has the oldest, most threadbare BJ tables I've ever seen. Touch a chip and you need to go wash your hands. Restaurants? Mickey D's is a gourmet restaurant compared to the two snack bars that are passed off as restaurants.) But the RV park is spiffy.

LCO Casino is a nice sized casino with a very friendly staff that is located seven miles out of Hayward. The road out to the casino is narrow and hilly. Once you get out there you'll find multiple card tables and enough machines to keep you busy. They also serve a good and reasonable priced buffet when you get hungry.

No hookups are provided, but complementary overnight parking is allowed next to the paved parking lot. Check with security so they know you're spending the evening.   This Casino is not open 24x7 so you might wake up to an empty parking lot. I assume security is still watching during these off times. Last time we were there I had a good run at Black Jack and Joie did well with Video Poker.

- report from Karen B, August 2007

There are no signs for RV parking but there are longer parking spaces in the back of the lot. The casino and Indian reservation are surrounded by a vacation home and resort area so the casino is very busy at times. We arrived on Thursday and it was fairly quiet but by five PM on Friday the parking lot , which is pretty large , had begun to fill. By seven all the spaces were taken including the longer ones. It was empty again in the morning but if you’re planning to go over a weekend arrive early enough in the day to get a space.

The casino is medium size with a good variety of slot machines , a few banks of poker machines and about twelve tables. There were about fifteen multi denominational poker machines with 10 play , 50 play , spin poker , five aces , pick your own wild card and multi strike. Most of these machines went all the way down to pennies , something I’d never seen on a multi strike machine. Since I love multi strike but am not good enough to pay it with quarters or even nickels, I had a lot of fun on these machines.

The casino is in the middle of Lac du Flambeau , a really nice little town . There is museum ( small but good presentation of local Indian history and culture ), post office and fully stocked grocery store all within two blocks of the casino.

The reservation also has a campground about a mile away. There’s a sidewalk to town and the casino but I don’t know if there’s a shuttle. We stopped to take a picture and it looked nice with large spaces, shade and access to the lake.

RV Park, FREE

-report from anonymous reader, November 2006

The place I am telling you all about, is in upper part of Wisconsin, near Ashland.  It is the Bad River Indian Reservation. They have a casino, in Odanah, WI that has about 10 or so angled parking spaces, on the back edge of the parking lot, with FREE Electric, and Water!

They have a gas station, with diesel, a dump station, a small supermarket, post office, and of course the casino/hotel.  There is a small restaurant in the entrance to the casino, with Breakfast, lunch, dinner. There is a Hotel, with pool, but RV parkers are not able to use the pool.

There is a trading post, in the entrance, with lots of "trinkets, etc....- but the best thing is---- you can buy the cards that were used in the casino,( they look almost like new ) DIRT CHEAP !!  Couples , etc... who play lots of card games, can relate to this.

Nearby is the apostle Islands National lakeshore, and at the entrance to the lakeshore, is a do not miss place, also free, the "Northern Great lakes visitor center", a real gem.

Now, this is in the top part of the U.S., so you will want to visit this in the summer most likely, but I have stayed here, as a base camp for running around, in spring/summer/ fall.

-report from reader Eric P., October 2006

We've stayed for a couple of days there. 50 amp hookups with water. I am not sure about a dump station, didn't need it. Fully paved lot. There are about ten sites on the north side of the lot, east of the casino. There appear to be another five next to these sites, behind the grocery store. These five sites were used by truckers when we were there.

There's a gas station and grocery store opposite the casino. First night was great. Second night there was a trucker who idled all night long (sigh). The lot is big but not big enough to keep the trucks segregated from the RV's.

Friendly people in the casino. The food is just fine in the casino. I would not go out of my way to eat there again. I would most happily stay at Bad River again. No charge to camp there!

-report from reader Bonnie P., May 2006

Bad River at Odanah also has a RV sites on the north side of their parking lot. Water and electric are included and there is a dump station. Sites are free.

RV Park and also Free Overnight RV parking

-report from Report from John & Joie, March 5, 2008

Very nice casino with many table and video games. Casino has three restaurants serving from a snack to full buffet. Free Overnight RV parking is located across the street from the Casino and behind "The Barn." A shuttle is provided to the Casino from this location. Plenty of room to park any size rig. We've had quiet/secure nights parking there.  A RV park is also provided for a charge. Sites are very small, but are located well enough behind the Casino to be away from all the hustle.
