RV Park

- Report from the Arlint's, September 2007

We are currently staying at Northern Lights Casino in Anacortes, Washington (near Whidbey Island/Oak Harbor). I will try my best to describe its facilities.

Cost: $25 for full hook-ups, including 50 amp, 30 amp, water, sewer, cable TV, WiFi internet with great signal.

Stay length: Up to 7 days. Small lot for short-term RV parking.

Signing in: Need to sign in at the front desk of the casino (RV check-in parking is in front by valet). Reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends, since the RV sites are fairly limited (only 35 sites and only 16 are pull-thru).

Hours: 2 PM for check-in and check-out is noon. Casino is open 11-4 AM Sunday thru Thursday & 24 hours on weekends. Quiet time is 10 PM to 8 AM.

Conditions: A bit cramped but well maintained. Just enough space to run out an awning but not much more. Sites are gravel with grass "yards" and are pretty level.

Pets: Allowed. Leash not "required" but pets must be under control at all times and cannot be left unattended. Pet walk is very close to the beach and pet waste bags are provided.

Impressions: Pretty nice. The only bad thing is the close quarters of the spaces. I've been in more cramped RV parks but this is the second worst. It's livable but should be better.

Casino: Mostly electronic games. Keno, off-track betting, black jack, craps, roulette, pai gow poker, 3-card poker, Texas hold-em bonus, and small poker tournaments. Casino is fairly new with a "lodge" feel. Casino is medium sized and has a non-smoking area.

Restaurant: Very nice. Reasonably priced ($7 for a huge 3 egg omelet, Texas toast, hash browns, slices of fruit). Has a waterfall in the center of the dining area.

Bonus: There are blackberry bushes between the RV sites and the beach. In season from late August to early September. Very tasty and free for the picking!!  Overall rating: 8 out of 10.

Boondocking is allowed.  No permit and no time limit.  Security patrol.  From entrance drive use south parking lot.  Level paved, fairly quiet.  Good food in restaurant.  There is a sign to dump station however we didn’t look for it.  Many fireworks stands during the 4th of July so sure you would hear a lot during that time.  Casino under construction but not during the night while we were there.

Casino has slots and table games.  Some machines require a money card and some cash.

Rochester, WA

Lucky Eagle Casino

RV Park

12888 188th Ave SW
Rochester, WA 98579

- report from Rick and Lucky Lucy, July, 2007

We headed for an Indian casino near Rochester and found the Lucky Eagle a few miles out of town. Nice area and the casino has 20 RV sites with water and electric hook-ups (but no dump station). The sites are level, paved, and immaculately landscaped.

I headed to the casino to register for a site -- $14 -- and found we had hit them on senior citizens day. Our luck is holding out. When I signed up for a slot card they handed me a bunch of coupons among which was buffet for $3.95 and two $5 cash coupons. This is too good to pass up so when we went for the cheap buffet lunch Lucky Lucy also signed up and got another $10 cash. Alas, the slot & VP machines were all bingo machines so we declined that opportunity and didn't do any gaming, just took their money, ate their food (excellent, by the way) and enjoyed a good night's camping -- all for $2 out of pocket expense. They also allow free overnight parking in their parking lot.

- from reader Gray T., July, 2006

For your information, we stopped at Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester, WA on our way home from AZ in April 2006 and charge was now $14.00, no longer 8.00 Still the buffet is great.

WOW, not that's a price increase!

 - Casino Camper Review, 2005

We don't recommend this casino for slot or video poker play; however, the RV parking area is a good deal for an overnight if you prefer to have electric and water hookup vs. dry camping.

They have a poker room, but when I was there they opened it only for tournaments.  Their video poker pay tables were awful, Indian casino slots, you really can't tell what the payback percentage is.  You may as well write them a check at the door.  However, if you like table games, the best game in the house is probably blackjack, or the pass line at the crap table.  These are games where you know the percentages and can adjust your play accordingly.

The RV parking area was brand new when we visited in July 2005.  They were working on it when we arrived, planting sod and laying stepping stones.  They have a couple dozen narrow spaces, located around the edge of the parking lot.  RV’s park on concrete pads and have electric and water hook-ups.  They only cost $8.00 a night, which is a pretty good deal.  (See updated report from a reader above)

Overnight at the Lucky Eagle Casino  -- my photo is a little crooked, spots were level :)

Reader "Airspeed" emailed me and said:

Stayed at Lucky Eagle in Rochester, WA in January 2006.  they have  installed concrete pads, water and power and its $8.00 per night.  If you gamble the rate is 0 the next night.  Its about 8 miles off  of I-5 north of Centralia, WA and a nice stop.  Diesel is about 5-6 cents less per gal.

-From reader Kelly, May 2006

No hook ups - they ask that you call them and let them know you're there and they'll bring you a pass. We called and let them know but they never brought us a pass.  We didn't eat there but went in and played $20.00 each on the 5 cent slots. Security is great. Location is great off I-5 and there's a big outlet mall if you're into it.

- from reader W. Ward, February 2006

Check this place out. I see many RV 's parked there all the time. I myself don't gamble, but the food in the casino is great. This place is right off of I-5 in Marysville WA.

- Casino Camper Research, February 2006

I looked at the web site, and it seems like a very nice place, and clearly RV friendly.  They have a large RV area and allow dry parking for up to 7 days.  They even send a shuttle around to pick you up!

Ocean Shores

Quinault Beach Resort and Casino

78 St. Rt. 115

Ocean Shores, WA 98569

- report from reader TJ, August 2006

Located off of Highway 101 near Ocean Shores, Washington.
They allow overnight parking with no limit on the number of days allowed. Check in with the front desk for a permit you display in your window.

This is a newer, small indian casino right on the Pacific Ocean just a short distance to Ocean Shores, Washington, for shopping, and fun: rent mopeds and explore miles and miles of beaches.

There is a large state park close by with plenty of shade for rv'er to avoid the summer sun. Keep in mind this is the Pacific Northwest and come Sept/Oct it is gray and rainy until July or so.

I am not a gambler so cannot comment on the casino's gaming activities, but the food was great.

Visited there in August, 2006

Overnight RV parking is OK

- report from TJ, June 2007

If you're planning to visit the Washington Coast with miles of beautiful beaches or the Olympic Peninsula in Western Washington, Little Creek Casino is a great place to stop for a day or two on your way.  Just minutes north of Olympia, Washington, on Hwy 101, this is a newer, four-star casino and resort with over night parking permitted.

It is recommended you get a MVP card to take advantage of the best discounts and specials the casino has to offer. Examples: If you are 50+ you get a 20% discount on all food. MVP reward points (one point equals one dollar) can be redeemed for gas/diesel at the casino's gas-mart. There are six restaurants, a new steak house coming soon, and a new18 hole PGA approved golf course now under construction. Once you have a MVP card check in at the Concierge Desk in the hotel lobby and ask if there are any special amenities available for RVers.

- from reader Karen B., April 2007

This casino has two locations. The smaller casino right off of exit 137 of I-5 doesn’t allow over night parking. The other one at exit 135 of I-5 has much bigger parking lots and does allow over night parking . We didn’t stay over night but made a couple of day trips in our motor home. There isn’t an area marked specifically for motor homes so we just parked in the emptier lots out of the way. The lots are patrolled by the tribal police.

Get a player’s card if you are going to be in the casino for a least two hours. This casino has an unusual way of awarding food comps to slot players but if you do it right it’s very easy to get a comped meal. The machines don’t accept cards but you still need to get one. If you enter the casino from the side doors the casino card booth is right inside. After you get the card go to the second booth and ask about comps They’ll take your name and then you can buy tickets for the slot machines. No machines in Washington state except money so you have to have tickets. If you get $150.00 worth of tickets you are entitled to a $20.00 food comp after two hours of play. It doesn’t matter how much you play or how much money you run through the machines. You can even buy a lesser amount of tickets then come back later with tickets from the slot machines and have them added to your total until you have $150.00 worth. The only thing you can’t do is get your tickets from the women that give change or from the ticket machines. The comp vouchers are only good for 24 hours.

We ate at the restaurant on the second level. The food and service was very good. We also ate at the Asian Garden Café which appears to be only fast food -order from the selection in the case and take to a table- but if you order something from the menu board that isn’t in the case they make it fresh. We ordered several bowls of noodle soups and entree. . All were very good.

RV dump in town free RV parking not clearly marked but appears still under construction Had a great visit. Would defiantly go back again. lots of giveaways and good comps. RV friendly RV town.

Casino Camper Note:  Lorraine emailed me with some additional information, see below:

"As I came out of our RV and and started down the incline to the lower parking lot and the casino, I fell and caused a fracture to my wrist.  I would just like to warn everyone to be especially careful if you park there."
