New York Casino Camper Reviews

This section contains information specifically about RVing from our own experience and directly from readers.  Organized alphabetically by City and Casino Name.

Canandaigua

The racetrack and casino allows RV parking with restrictions.  We stayed in the lot at Canandaigua, but had to be "out" by ten the next morning. The casino closes at 2 in the morning. The only eateries are deli type things, but good food, although expensive.   - readers J & N Felicita, February 2006

Overnight RV parking is OK

- report from Karen B, August 2007

There's a sign directing trucks to a large gravel lot to the left of the casino so we followed the example of the other RVers and parked in the gravel lot to the right of the casino. Both of these lots are huge.

The casino is medium size and an entire half of it is non-smoking. It has a good variety of slot machines in all denominations. There are a couple of dozen tables and fair amount of poker machines but no good pay tables.

There's new shopping plaza with a large IGA just across the road from the casino.

Niagara Falls (Canadian side too)

Reported on the Casino Camper Yahoo! Forum - info from 2006

Len, a reader of our forum, posted two items of important information.  First, he said in a visit last year (2006) he found no RV parking available.  Second, he warned of a low clearance at the exit ramp to the largest casino, probably a little more than 12 feet, that was not clearly marked.

It looks like anyone planning a trip to the Niagara Falls area should probably get out a Woodall's or Trailer Life directory.  -Mac

Seneca Casino

Warning -- Low Clearance on US-190 at exit 21, read report below.

-Report from Sean, September 24 2009

An update on the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel (http://www.senecaniagaracasino.com/)

We are staying here tonight, 9/24/2009. Our printed directory, Jane Kenny's excellent "Casino Camping - Guide to RV-Friendly Casinos - 4th Edition" indicated parking was available here and provided directions.

Those directions included getting off US-190 North at exit 21 onto the Robert Moses Parkway. Signs indicated that the road was closed to commercial traffic, but there were no height warnings, until we were already well committed on a corkscrew ramp, where a sign warned of 12'0" clearance.. We stopped on the shoulder and called the State Police for help. When the officer arrived, he asked how tall our rig was -- 13'0" -- and informed us that we would clear the overpass if we stayed in the left lane, and that semi-trailers routinely clear it at 13'6". He did a traffic block behind us and we did clear the overpass with inches to spare. Bottom line, it is no problem for rigs 13' or under, just stay left.

Kenny states the RV parking is in the self-park lot off Falls Street, however this is out of date, The casino now wants RVs to park in the oversize lot, normally used by tour buses, at the northeast corner of the property. Access is from Niagara Street at the corner of John B. Day. Here is the Google Maps view:
http://maps.google.com/?t=h&q=43.08798,-79.05331

There is one other rig with us here tonight, and at this writing several tour buses are in the lot as well.

-Report from Cheryl, May, 2007

On May 4, 2007 we went to Seneca Casino in Niagara Falls, New York. Although the security guard said that it was okay to park your RV in the back parking lot near the back fence, I wouldn't trust it. There was not enough room and it didn't look too safe to me.

On the Canadian side:

Fallsview Casino located in Niagara Falls Ontario Canada, no RV parking area.
Casino Niagara Casino located in Niagara Falls Ontatio Canada, no RV Parking area.

-report from David R., July 9, 2009

I we stayed at Turing stone Casino  In Verona NY.  How Nice they have a very good campground with everything up to 45 ft. Rigs with full hook ups 50 amp at all sites they have 20 drive thru.  If you dry Camp just about a mile they have a big Lot for Trucks and Camper  with 24 hr pickup and drop off to the Casino.  We enjoy this Casino, has it all its very big and is in most camping books.

-report from P. May, June 28 2009

The overflow dry camping area is closed and if they do open it it will be only for the casino overflow with no overnight parking. We were directed there by the valets; however, after turning in there was a
security guard there and said the parking area was closed. He checked with the casino and we couldn't park overnight at the casino. He directed us to the campground. The Sunday-Thursday rate was $45/night and the weekend rate is $55/night and can be higher on holidays.  There was a shuttle between the campground and casino.

The casino machines do not take cash. You have to get a card and put money on it, then it is used as one would use a debit card. We did not gamble there. There was a promotion going on and all the machines were busy.

 - report from Fred H., June 27 2008

I would like to respond to the report about the Turning Stone Casino Free RV and Truck parking from Len G., February 2008.

We strongly disagree.  Over the last 5 years we have spent many happy days and nights at Turning Stone Casino's huge Security Patrolled "overflow Parking" blacktop lot. I venture to say it's as safe as any parking lot in the USA. We always make a habit of stopping there when we are nearby. There are two separate parking sections and usually the 18 wheelers park on one side and the RV's on the other. There are numerous large all weather shuttle waiting areas with phones to call for the free shuttle service. We have never waited more than 25 minutes for the shuttle.

The Casino is about two miles away and similar to most larger well run Indian casinos. The buffet is 4 out of five stars and consistently good and very reasonably priced if you get in before 4 PM for dinner.

The payout is poor like most Indian establishments. They have a large Bingo following and most come away happy even if they are a bit lighter in the money department. The Turning Stone is billed as a resort and has lots to do beside gambling. Most RVers spend 2 or 3 days in the overflow lot. There is no time limit posted and have never seen anyone abusing the parking privilege in any way.  Another bonus is there is a Indian run convenience store / gas station at the far end of the truckers side of the lot. Right across  the street is the Indian truck stop with the lowest priced fuel in NY.

Vernon Downs a Trotters racetrack / Casino is about 5 or 6 miles down the road and also allows overnight parking. Vernon Downs lot is sub par compared to the Turning stones but I hear the Casino is a bit looser as far as winning. It's a much smaller establishment.

Turning Stones year round parking lot is easy to find right off exit 33 of I-90 the NYS Thruway turn North at the exit on RT 365 and its about 1/4 mile on the right. The Savon gas and diesel stations are on the corners.  We parked here may times in our 40 ft Monaco Dynasty the last time being July 10th 2008.
The Turning Stones Campground is seasonal and very nice. We have driven through but not stayed there yet.

-report from Len G., February 2008

Their campground is a seasonal operation only. They will direct you to a remote parking lot for truckers only if you stay the night off-season. We were not impressed, especially when there was ample empty parking space near the casino during the week. It was 90 minutes minimum for a shuttle ride. Not patrolled, not a secure area to park. We were in a 24 ft class C, little bigger than an oversized van.

-report from reader Sue B., June 2006

We stayed at the RV campground associated with Turning Stone Casino in Rome, NY. It was a really nice place, loads of things to do for the kids you bring, a stocked fishing pond, clean well kept sites. It even has various hiking trails and a bird sanctuary. The trails are not long at all. Sites can be paid for by points from your casino card. BUT the odds of winning were very bad. I did not see anyone winning big jack pots, and you have to get a players card, they put your money on the card and when that is finished, you can get more money put on the card. At the end of the night you can cash out your card. The tables do not accept the card, they want cash, so it's a catch 22.

- report from reader T. Norton, February 2006.

Turning Stone has an excellent camping facility.  Free shuttle to the Casino which is about a mile from the park.  Even if you don't enjoy casinos this is a great park.  Public areas and restrooms were all very clean.  Paved streets and sites, full hookups, cable TV.  It's a good place to explore nature with hiking trails, a pond etc.

- report from reader A. Van, January 2006.

East of Syracuse 5 star park associated with Casino. Wide pull thrus. Nice landscaping & ponds. Paved level sites. Good (small) laundry. Well maintained. Some sites have instant phone service. $28.
