Report from
Ann, October 25, 2009
Is FREE overnight RV parking allowed? YES (not sure
why your website says N). The lot is shared by
employee/hotel/customer parking up front and RV/Bus parking in the rear.
I emailed the Sands before arriving to ask if it was okay. We
stayed there 5 nights. Security came through once or twice a day.
Fenced area. There were 3 rigs in there that looked liked they lived
there. One woman got out of her rig, climbed/hopped over the
fence, even with the barb wire row on top. I noticed that she had
an extension cord running from her rig through the fence to a house that
was along the side. It’s obvious the Sands is not picky
about who uses the lot. They do make sure you don’t park in the
area marked for the busses to use.
Email from Terrible’s Sands Regency "We do in our south lot across
third street, off of Arlington. There is a sign that indicates
RV’s are welcome.”
Walking distance to the casino – The train runs along one side but the
tracks were lowered through Reno so they are about 20ft down. They
did not blow their horn so it was not a distruption in the night at all.
There’s a sidewalk/bridge over the train track area.
Security Patrolled and Very well lit (we were thankful for our bedroom
blackout curtains
Large enough for big rigs
Trash containers are located throughout the lot. Someone was going
through our trash container one morning about 4 am. No dump
station or water.
Casino
Food: Nice variety of food options, Arbys, Mels Diner, Buffet,
Cafe. Cafe has a 50+ value menu soup, pop, etc for 50 cents.
Cafe also has a hot dog & pop for $2.50.
Gambling; Nice variety of machines.
Hotel isn't in the best of shape. My parents stayed there in a
"Jacuzzi Suite". The ceiling had a couple of areas that had fallen off.
It was a close walk to 6-7 other casinos as well as the river with it's
kayaking. They are cleaning up downtown, but still have a ways to
go.

Casino Camper Report, September 19, 2008
The city of RENO has started enforcing their ordinance against sleeping
overnight in an RV within city limits other than in an official RV park.
Report from
Warren & Karen, March, 2007
Stayed at the Sands
hotel-casino parking lot behind the hotel (south side) in March of 2007.
Check with security for a pass to display in your window. The lot is fully
fenced and is also used for tour bus parking. Walking distance to Virginia
St. casinos, fairly quiet, security patrolled. No hook-ups. Easy walk to
back entrance of Casino.
