CasinoCamper Update, September 2009
I received a report that the Rio no longer allows overnight RV parking due
to an incident as follows: "...apparently someone dumped their black
tank on the parking lot and it cost $15,000 to clean it up - using a haz-mat
team!"
If anyone has additional information please let me know. If this is
confirmed it will be the first documented incident of this that I'm aware
of.

We recently parked
in the lot at the Rio in Las Vegas for two nights, using the convention
center parking area, or "Masquerade C" lot. There's more than a dozen RV's
every night, and lots of truckers use it as a drop-off spot, as well. One
drawback is that there's frequent trains on a nearby track - all day and all
night. I've seen occasional security patrols, but they don't come around
very often.
Easiest entrance:
from Industrial, go west on Twain, and south into the Rio lot at the first
light - takes you right into the convention lot without having to drive
around the front of the building.
Their World
Carnival Buffet is one of the most popular in town, and the Las Vegas
Advisor Pocketbook of Values has a two-for-one coupon for it. (There's also
a two-for-one coupon in the POV for the buffet at the Gold Coast, which is
right next door. We went there yesterday, and thought it was pretty decent).
