Casino Camper Review, November
2006 Updated April 2007
RV Parking Second update for April 2007,
I talked with a security guard and we've found an OK place to park here.
Option 1:
The best place is a paved parking lot with a sign that says "Oversized Vehicles".
It's located at the North end of the employee parking lot on the North
side of US-90 from the casino. Access is from Howard Ave. via Couevas St.
You can see this lot very well by clicking the Satellite option on the
Google map. Not a lot of room for turning a big rig, so large 5th
wheels and long motorhomes with toads may want to pass. See photo
below.
Option 2:
There's a dirt parking lot a couple of blocks away. We visited it,
corner of Caillavet St. and Howard AV. There were five tour busses, one bobtail semi
truck and one RV. It was raining and the lot was muddy. I
recommend NOT parking there. It's too far from the casino and too
dirty.

Overall The Beau Rivage is a really beautiful place; I
call it the "Bellagio of the Gulf Coast", although not quite as
spectacular it was built by Steve Wynn with many style and architectural
elements taken from Bellagio. The restaurants are great.
Comps Beau Rivage seems to be comping pretty good now to get
former players to return. They sent us $200 in free play, so we'll
see what they send us next. (Update, Jan and Feb mailings included
$400 free play, split between first and second half of the month.
Our play at the Beau was about 60% quarters and 40% half's and dollars.
The free gifts are nice. We got bath robes for October, and logo
jackets for November.

Food We ate at the Memphis Q, the Terrace Cafe, and the Buffet.
All are very good. Memphis Q has excellent BBQ ribs, steaks, and
prime rib. Terrace Cafe is your typical good casino coffee shop,
open 24/7/365. The Buffet has a large selection of seafood along
with Asian, American, pasta, some Cajun and French. Wine is
complementary and has been upgraded from last year to Woodbridge from
whatever they had in the fall.
Wine I like their selection of comped wines on the casino
floor. They have a Pinot Noir that's really very good. Kings Estate,
Lorane Valley from Oregon (4/2007 update, a Mondovi
and a Blackstone Pinot replaces the KE, they're just fair). Their Shiraz
is good, it's Pikes,
Clare Valley, and they also routinely comp three Manzanita Canyon wines;
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. I sampled them all, and
they're all OK. I'd give the Pinot a higher grade then the others, and the
Shiraz a close second. (4/2007 update, some
wines are only available at the bar, or table games, others limited at
machines. They had been very consistent about wines, brands, etc.
last fall but now it seems they are changing things around. Last
fall they had a small wine menu at the bar that was accurate. Now
these are gone. Wines are still better than 90% of casinos.
Video Poker We try to never play a machine that's under 99%, but
we do make exceptions at a couple of places we really like. The Beau
Rivage is one of them. They have 7/5 BP (98%) and 8/5 JOB (97.3%).
They also have these in progressives, and when the jackpot is over 7000
coins you're playing a 100% machine! 4/2007
update, we also found 8/6 JOB and 10/6/40 DDB. 10/6/40 DDB is the
best in the house, but the variance will kill you.
Other Games The only other game I played was craps.
Surprisingly they had some $5 tables open most of the time, weekends most
become $10 and even $25 minimum.
Very knowledgeable, fast, friendly dealers. No pressure on dice
setters if you hit the wall. A fun place to play one of my favorite games. They
have lots of blackjack and all the other popular table games.
Hard to find a $5 table at night or on the weekend.
