Casino Camper --
Sunrise in the Coushatta RV Parking Area

-CasinoCamper report, May 2007
We
were traveling to Texas from Biloxi and wanted to make it 2 short days
instead of 1 long one. We also wanted to avoid any more of the awful
road conditions on I-10 in Louisiana, so we headed for Kinder and the
Coushatta Casino.
We
were only there one night, so here's our quick first impression: This
place is nice! Clearly not your stereotypical Indian casino. In
fact, now that I've traveled the country for a few years, my views of Indian
casinos in general have been changing.
RV
Parking: The
RV parking area is on the West side of the casino. Turn in like you're
headed for the RV resort and enter the large parking lot on your right.
You'll see a water tower, and a small blue sign with white letters for RV
Parking. Easy in and out, paved, level, clean.
RV Resort: We didn't stay in Red Shoes RV Resort, but it's one of
the better casino RV resorts around. Full hookups, all pull-through
sites, swimming pool, free cable TV, etc. If you're looking for a nice
RV park in this area I recommend it highly.
Food: Our
first priority was eating dinner, so Chris scouted the restaurants while I
signed up for a players club card. Paying for food in a casino is a
foreign concept to me, but since we just walked in the door we had no comps.
We were pleasantly surprised that the restaurants and buffet were reasonably
priced. Chris and I ate at the steakhouse, and it was very good.
I talked with several people while playing poker and they said the buffet is
good too.
Gaming: After
dinner we found some OK video poker, 8/5 Bonus Poker "Aces and Faces" which
is a 99.26% game. Chris played video poker, while I visited the poker
room. It's a large non-smoking room off the casino floor so you're
insulated from most of the noise. Seems like a well run room, hand
dealt, dealers varied in skill but all were OK and some are as good as any
I've seen. They had a large tournament going on this weekend, so there
were many good players in town. I found a 2/5 NL that wasn't too tough
(they were also spreading 5/10 and 10/20 NL) and played a couple hours escaping with a small profit.
I
didn't play any table games, but they seemed in good shape and if poker
dealers were typical the dealers here are good. Overall I'd say the
place is attractive, but a little noisy. You'll find a mixture of
modern video slots along with some old favorites, all of which have been
modified for
TITO. We'll return again.

Kinder, Louisiana is the best.
Great RV park and they comp you easily for both RV park and food
- report from reader L. Dixon,
February 2006
We pulled into the parking lot
at the Grand Coushatta Casino in Kinder LA late in the afternoon. We
discovered a tire on the trailer was deflating. We decided it was to late to
deal with it so we went in and had dinner and played the slots.
The meal was excellent and we
lost our money slower than usual. The next morning I asked the person at the
door who in town would come out to change a tire. He said not to call
anyone, he said he would send security out to us and they would change the
tire for us.
They came out and changed our
tire free of charge. We stayed another night due to rain and high
winds. Once again we enjoyed a great meal and some fun slots.
They also have a very nice RV
Park next to the casino we stayed in the park a couple of years ago.
